These two miniatures come from a hitherto unknown copy of the the Mathnavi of Jalal al-Din Rumi, illustrated in the Safavid court style of c. 1530. The two paintings appear to have been made by different artists.

Illustrated copies of the Mathnavi of Jalal al-Din Rumi are much rarer than other Persian classics such as the Shahnamah of Firdausi or the Khamsah of Nizami.
